Locally owned and Family Operated
Since 1990

Family owned & Operated by local, native Oregonians

From humble beginnings, it all started around 1990 when Mike was still working at the local mill in Prineville, OR. With two young children at home and a wife who wanted to stay home to raise them, Mike decided to start his own business to make that dream a reality.

Mike's children (Linsay, Michael, and Casey) enjoying a toy kitchen set their father made for them back in the day.

Initially named Mike’s Cabinets, the business began in the back of a family member’s old horse barn in Alfalfa, OR. Mike used scraps of wood from the mill to craft his first pieces, creating custom china cabinets for his parents and in-laws. These initial creations are still in the family and treasured as heirlooms today.

“When we started, I did the cabinets all on graph paper” - Mike

Now, with over 30+ years of experience, Ochoco Cabinet & Door has grown significantly. From its beginnings in a horse barn, the business now operates out of a larger shop in the Prineville industrial park with a dedicated team of knowledgeable employees. Mike reflects on the early days, “When we started, I did the cabinets all on graph paper and had to do all the math by hand.” Today, modern computer programs assist in drafting detailed and even 3D designs for customers to review before production begins.

Where we are today…

Despite the growth and advancements, some things have remained the same. Mike is still involved in every step of daily operations, from discussing visions with customers to designing and drafting cabinets himself, and even participating in much of the manual labor alongside his team, much of which is family.

As a family business, Ochoco Cabinet & Door is very personal to us. We believe the careful consideration and love that goes into our work far surpasses the quality of mass produced manufactured factory cabinets.
